Olive Hui a.k.a. Pineapple O [Super of the Day]

My first Super of the Day, Olive Hui, really is a Hero for every day.  So what makes her Super?

Who is Olive Hui, a.k.a. Pineapple O

She is the creator of New York Real, an actress, artist, musician, content creator, student and warrior of life, and human.  She’s been an inspiration and good friend to me for years.  I think I met her through acting, and we connected instantly as if our souls had known eachother from previous lives.  Right away when I met her, talking and connecting, I knew she was a super caring and thoughtful individual that experienced life deeply.  Since we met, I’ve always known Olive as someone who constantly was learning new things and discovering how she could put them to use in her life.  She would see something that inspired her, and she would investigate and inquire, always experiencing and connecting with new people to learn from.  She would take what she’s learned and make it a part of who she was, and set out to learn more.   Continue reading Olive Hui a.k.a. The ‘Super For The Soul’ Project [SFTS 1]

I need a super hero.  I want Superman back.

Of late, I’ve been really feeling that I need more hope and inspiration in my life.  Hope in humanity and in my dreams.  I KNOW there is hope in humanity, I see it once in a while, but I can’t even watch the news anymore, it’s so depressing.  Even our super heroes have gotten too dark.  I feel like I’ve gotten to a place in my life that I thought I’d never be, a place where maybe I’ll have to accept that the dreams I’ve grown up pursuing will not come true.  I’m very grateful for all I have, I’ve VERY lucky, but I have always told myself that I’d rather die than be depressed without any hope for my dreams, to live only to survive.  In my mind, there was no other outcome, no alternative. Disney Legendary – A New Blog Project

For the past year I’ve been working on designing board games, about 5 in total or more now, but still NONE of them are complete. One of my first projects was to create custom cards for the DC Deck Building Game, which I also ended up creating whole new mechanics to make it more of a dueling game, and an expanded version that changes almost everything making it into more of a board game. To make sure that track record continues, I’m going to start another game project ha ha. This one is to create a Disney version of Legendary by Upper Deck (Marvel Legendary specifically). This one will more likely be completed since it’s a cooperative effort with my partner Jaysen Headley who is super passionate about this, board games and all things Disney. I love collaborating. Also, Jaysen will be using his blog to keep us accountable. Here’s Jaysen’s blog post explaining a lot of it.

Hello all and welcome back!

The time has finally come to unveil a new project that I will be working on with my partner Carl Li.  I’m sure that this is nowhere near what any of you thought it would be, and that is my favorite thing about it.  I’m going to start off with a little bit of a story and then I’ll explain the project itself and how it will fit into the contents of this blog.  But first, a disclaimer.

This Project will not be sold or distributed.

While the ideas and experiences are mine, the characters and properties involved in this project are owned by Disney and Marvel and I do not claim to own them in any way shape or form.

It’s important to me that we get that out of the way right off the bat, because in telling my friends about this project…

Lady and the Tramp [Jaysen Headley’s Vault Disney #15 Companion]

This week I’m talking out of my ass about Lady and the Tramp.  I saw this when I was really little.  I think I actually saw it projected from a projector.

Vault Disney #15: Lady and the Tramp

The following are notes as I barely watched the film, and now adding in some annotations.  Missing the of whole point watching it YAY!  This in a way is an exercise in writing.  Bad writing, or just writing for the sake of writing for yourself without being judgmental.  If you actually want a post about this film that’s constructed with thought and provides a review of value (here’s that self-judgement), you should read Jaysen Headley’s post on Lady and the Tramp!  Continue reading Lady and the Tramp [Jaysen Headley’s Vault Disney #15 Companion]

One year ago today, my life changed.

On October 31, 2014 I was very happy to release my first full length novel, A Love Story for Witches. This past year has been a whirlwind of amazingness. Within six months we had released in seven different countries. The book hit the best sellers list in France and London. I experienced the crazy scenario of working with someone to translate my work to Chinese. I was brought to tears as someone came up to me at the laundromat to have me sign their copy of the book. I was floored by seeing it in people’s hands on the Subway and was blessed by so many kind words and encouragements that I can’t even count them all. I feel so much gratitude for everyone who supported, read, shared, talked about or even just listened to me talk about the book in my…
