Michael Cray #2 Meanderings + Warren Ellis on the Future of the Wild Storm

The continuing adventures of Michael Cray, a dying assassin with a conscious, brain tumor and death touch.  It almost sounded like I was describing Deadpool.  Never thought of Deathblow in that light before.  He’s nothing like Deadpool, other than the dying of a tumor part. 

One fun thing I look forward to in a spin-off book is being able to explore new corners of this new WSU.  One thing already is the introduction of DCU characters in this world!  What other parts of the new WSU will we see?

Will there be new ideas introduced in this issue?  We know from the last issue that he will be having a team!  Will we be introduced to new original WSU characters?  Who will they be?  Will Cray kill Oliver Queen aka Green Arrow?  Is Green Arrow a hero in this new WSU with a dark secret, or is he all bad?  My impression from the last issue was that he was all bad.  Let’s meander ….

Michael Cray #1 Meanderings [WildStorm]

The first spin-off book to come out of The Wild Storm and the 2nd book for the new Warren Ellis curated WildStorm imprint!  I gotta say, it’s nice to see another book on the shelves staring a non-white lead!  I think it’s exciting to have comics of diverse faces and voices.  There are a bunch of Black leads on the shelves today who have their own books (though mostly male).  Black Panther, Black Lightning, Falcon, Cyborg, Spawn, Luke Cage to name a few.

This is another maxi-series with 12 issues!  It really makes me wonder where the WildStorm will be in one year.  We are still expecting at least 2 more series to spin out of The Wild Storm; Zealot and WildC.A.T.s!  Will each series just overlap another as it’s ending, or will what’s ending be replaced to maintain four books in this new WildStorm Universe?  I suppose the success of this imprint will determine that.

As for this series, last we saw Michael Cray, he was being recruited by Trelane who works for SkyWatch’s Earth Division.  What new areas might we discover in the new WildStorm Universe in this book?  Let’s meander ….

The Wild Storm #5 Meanderings + #7 Solicitation/Cover Preview + More

Almost to the quarter point to this 24 chapter story!  Warren had stated that each 6 issues would be an arc to the overall 24 chapter story!  What will it reveal?  What new ideas and characters will be introduced?  What set up and cliffhanger will it have for the 6th issue?  Lets find out in The Wild Storm Chapter Five!  And at the very bottom, I’ll link some other reviews and also a sneak peak at TWS issue #7’s cover and solicitation via Newsarama!

UPDATE: I just added a YouTube review that literally tears this issue in half,.. gulp.  I appreciate different points of view and opinions so thought I’d add it here at the bottom!

The Wild Storm #4 Meanderings

I’ve been a little behind this month because of my new job.  This month’s also shorter than my previous posts.  Just not as much to say about this issue.   It trods along, but as usual, the issues seem shorter than I’d like, or atleast not as dense as I’d like.  If the Authority was wide-screen action film, then The Wild Storm is like an adult TV show like those from HBO/Showtime/Netflix, etc in it’s pacing with the exception that it’s not an hour long worth of material, I’m not sure it’s even 1/2 hour’s length, but I still enjoy it.  I just want more!!!!  What do you guys think?
